What Is Debt Negotiation?

Debt negotiation involves engaging directly with your creditors to agree on a resolution for an outstanding debt. Dealing with creditors yourself can be stressful — having an experienced professional negotiate on your behalf levels the playing field and ensures your rights are protected.

We can help with:

✅ Negotiating a reduced lump-sum settlement amount
✅ Agreeing on a manageable payment plan
✅ Negotiating removal of interest, penalties, or fees
✅ Reaching a hardship arrangement under NCCP Act provisions

How We Negotiate

Our specialists personally handle all debt negotiation matters. Our approach:

  1. We review the debt in detail — amount, age, creditor, and any previous correspondence
  2. We assess whether any hardship provisions or dispute grounds apply
  3. We contact the creditor and negotiate on your behalf
  4. We present any agreed resolution to you for approval before it is accepted
  5. Once agreed, we help ensure the outcome is properly documented

Frequently Asked Questions

Will debt negotiation affect my credit file?

The debt itself may already be affecting your credit file if a default has been listed. The outcome of negotiation depends on what is agreed with the creditor. We discuss the credit file implications of any proposed settlement before you accept.

Can creditors refuse to negotiate?

Creditors are not legally obligated to accept a reduced settlement. However, most creditors are willing to negotiate — particularly where a debt is old, already in collections, or where genuine financial hardship exists. Our experience with creditors means we know what is realistic and how to approach each situation.

What types of debt can be negotiated?

We can assist with most types of unsecured consumer debt — credit cards, personal loans, utilities, and telecommunications. We do not negotiate secured debts (such as mortgages or car loans where the asset is at risk) in this service.

What if the creditor has already listed a default?

Debt negotiation and default removal are separate services that may be used together. We can negotiate a settlement and simultaneously investigate the default listing for removal grounds. Call us to discuss your specific situation.
